Description
Financial Literacy is a core life skill, especially in this day and age when the Young Adults World is growing more complex by the day. This Financial Literacy training is informed by the fact that about one-fifth of the world’s population is between 15 and 24 years of age, while in Kenya alone, over 45% of our population is under the age of 20 years.
The socioeconomic and geopolitical consequences of this “youth bulge” will be experienced for decades to come. This is a time when critical decisions must be made about personal life, finance, career, marriage, education, reproductive health etc. These issues will dramatically impact the future trajectory of one’s lives. Young adulthood also marks a period of habit formation with potential longer-term consequences for the individual and for the society at large.
While a significant majority of young adults complete their education satisfactorily, they must however be equipped with advanced skills beyond academic literacy to succeed in the real world. Investing in the future human resource capital of young adults has the potential to positively affect poverty reduction well into the future through better skilled, more confident, and a more active labor market.
